Luigi yawning after a very long day. He was accidentally let out into the front yard (where rat poison had just been set) and being the curious, always hungry dachshund he is – decided to snack on some rat poison. This just so happened to be at three in the morning during a thunderstorm. He was immediately rushed to a 24 hour vet clinic where they gave him some peroxide to throw up the poison and gave some liquid charcoal to help get rid of the poison in his system. He’s thankfully happy and healthy, and the mistake of putting out rat poison will never be made again. Way rather deal with rats, than a lost family member. So, this is Luigi’s way of winding down after his near brush with death. That’s Brutus (our late Chihuahua) in the background. He was tragically taken by coyotes a few months ago. He’s deeply missed – and we know Luigi misses his best buddy too.

Another Luigi! I also have a “Luigi,” but my vet’s office thought that was a little too Italian, so I named him Louie G! The rest of the pack includes Rocco and Schultz – the only real German long dog in the bunch, plus Angel Dino. Glad to hear Luigi is doing just fine after his curiosity got him in big trouble.
