This is Jethro, the mascot for Gulf Coast Dachshund Rescue. He is one of the 3 surviving puppies of a litter of 4 that was turned in to the rescue because they thought they were blind. He was born with a genetic defect of a hole in his soft palate, an oddly shaped head and bit of a curve in the spine. He had to have his tonsils removed when he was 8 weeks old and still needs another surgery to fix that hole that causes him to have a chronic snotty nose and to not quite bark, but “nyark”

naww poor little monkey. I hope he grows up big and strong.

Awww, Jethro thanks you all for the well wishes. His nyark has graduated into an urk now, with bursts of silent howls. He sounds like a miniature seal, and is undoubtedly a monkey.
